6/11/2020 In an effort to spread optimism and hope, the College and its 10 international partner universities collaborated in mid-May to create a photo grid, showing solidarity with students during this difficult time. Each university representative created a sign depicting one word or phase, contributing to the overarching message of the grid: “Dear students, we may be miles apart, but together we can overcome anything.”

6/02/2020 The Carson City based company, Nevada Labs, is giving away 1-gallon jugs of hand sanitizer to help local businesses as they re-open for Phase 2 here in Nevada. 
5/31/2020 Mask Posse of Las Vegas consists of volunteers led by the Women’s Committee of IATSE Local 720. The group’s mission, according to its Facebook page, is to get handmade masks to workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic and to other organizations and people in need of masks.

5/21/2020 Organizer Jessica Garfield said, “We need kindness, we need smiles, everyone is feeling kind of isolated.” The group started the rock drive to expand the river. Garfield said, “Hopefully they can look at these rocks and one of them might speak to them and help give them the strength for what they are going through.”

5/12/2020 Over the weekend, the Biggest Little City celebrated 152 years! As part of the virtual celebration, a beacon of light lit up downtown Reno to bring hope and inspiration to Nevadans during the coronavirus pandemic.
5/12/2020 The Washoe County School District Nutrition Services Department partnered with the Food Bank Northern Nevada on meal distribution for the community. They’ve provided nearly 150,000 meals to students in the past seven weeks since Distance Learning started!

5/06/2020 Hand sanitizer produced in a whiskey distillery in Kentucky will be making its way to Elko for distribution to rural Nevada communities. The hand sanitizer will be repackaged by Nevada Prison Industries and sent to the Nevada National Guard’s personal protection equipment distribution center.
